About BridgeWater, The Golf Club At (Lakeland, FL)
Ranked #18 by Golfweek's Best Courses To Play in Florida 2008, this exciting links-style course called for all of architect Steve Smyers' years of skill and ability in course design. The goal: to build a challenging test of golf, a pleasurable experience for all skill levels, a stern challenge for long hitters. As a reclaimed phosphate mine with stands of native oaks, the original terrain was flat. The topography now features undulating fairways (six connected by winding bridges) and multi-tiered tees and greens, many surrounded by well-placed bunkers. The flow of the land around the greens was carried onto the putting surfaces, resulting in slopes, ridges, and numerous potential hole locations. BridgeWater requires 'strategy' to play skillfully and rewards classic shotmaking with an extra risk/reward approach. Lakeland off I-4 between Kissimmee and Tampa.

BEING A NEW COURSE,WITH A VERY HIGH SLOPE RATING I DIDN'T KNOW JUST WHAT TO EXPECT. I WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISED. THE COURSE WAS DIFFICULT BUT FAIR. I BELEIVE THE SLOPE IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE GREENS WHICH ARE MONSTEROUS, WITH SEVERE UNDULATIONS. IT WAS A JOY TO PLAY AND IT WILL ONLY GET BETTER AS IT AGES.

Beth/David (Lockport, NY) says:
Ladies tees are to long. It's a new couse and the grass isn't too good. If you play hear bring you'r A putting game the greens are super fast and have huge slopes any down hill put is eather in the hole or off the green. Great place to play when it's wet, as it was on our vist, this course was very dry.
