World Woods Golf Club - Pine Barrens
Brooksville, FL

Intimidating. Enjoyable. These two words don't often go hand in hand, but they accurately describe the Pine Barrens course at World Woods. Ranked #26 on Golfweek's list of "America's Best Modern Courses for 2006," this Tom Fazio design has been receiving accolades since it opened in 1991. It's perennially ranked among the nation's top course... More
World Woods Golf Club - Rolling Oaks
Brooksville, FL
~ 14.71 miles (Not Driving Distance)
Although built right next door, the land occupied by Rolling Oaks provides a stark contrast to that at Pine Barrens. Here you'll find huge oak trees draped with Spanish moss within a landscape reminiscent of Augusta National (including Azaleas!). The course features beautiful rolling fairways and well-defined bunkers with bright white sand. Fazio's... More

Course designer Scott Pate, of Seaside Golf Development, has done wonderful work on the new course at Hernando Oaks. The layout wanders through beautiful Florida countryside and was designed with a sense of fairness in mind. The fairways tend to be wide and forgiving, but there's just the right amount of water to keep your attention. Your score wil... More

The new North course at Lake Jovita is a tremendous compliment to the original South course. Adam (Trenton, FL) says:
The plantation was very peaceful. It was clean and very neat. It was a pleasant place to come to, to relax after a good fun day of golf.

Mickey (Westport, CT) says:
We stayed in the recently renovated building and the rooms were very nice. This is not a top teir hotel, but they do a great job treating their guests first class. The restaurant is surprisingly good, and the outside recommendations of restaurants was good as well.

Not too bad but not ideal room design and had to use pullout sofa.

Loretta (Washington, DC) says:
The condo we stayed in would have involved walking along a busy highway to get to the hotel itself and amenities. We had a small child along, and that walk was not possible. The condo itself was obviously old and had not been maintained very well. The kitchen was not equipped for actual use by tenants--there were not enough glasses, silverware, the pots and pans were inadeaquate. The living room furniture was worn and broken and not adequate for six people. There were only four dining room chairs and one was broken and unusable. Exterior doors did not work easily. The beds were nice and there was adequate hot water.

Craig (Jamestown, NY) says:
That "yes" for staying there again is more like "maybe". We've been going there for about six years and have always been happy with the experience. This year, things seemed different. The hotel bar closed most nights by 10pm, even when there were patrons in the bar. The cabana bar, which used to be open Friday thru Sunday, wasn't going to open until March 15th, except that they did open Saturday, but only because there was a wedding outside. On Thursday night, three of our golfers went to the dining room about 7:30pm to have dinner. They were told that they couldn't be served because the restaurant was full, even though there were only about eight tables occupied. On our last day, we had 8:30 tee times at their golf course. One of our guys went to the front desk Friday to see if we could check out a little later, so we could use the rooms to change before we left for the airport. The front desk clerk told him that wasn't possible, that there was a strict rule against late check-outs. He then asked to speak to the manager, who did allow it, as long as we guaranteed that we would be checked out by 1:00pm. None of these things were "deal breakers", but it seems to me that when you advertise yourself as a resort, you imply that you are more than just a hotel and that you are set up to cater to your guests. We left with the exact opposite impression.
