This exciting new links course called for all of architect Steve Smyers' years of skill and ability in course design. The goal — to build a challenging test of golf, a pleasurable experience for all skill levels, a stern challenge for long hitters. As a reclaimed phosphate mine with few stands of native oaks, the original terrain was flat. The topography now features undulating fairways (six connected by winding bridges) and multi-tiered tees and greens, many surrounded by well- placed bunkers. The flow of the land around the greens was carried onto the putting surfaces, resulting in slopes, ridges, and numerous potential hole locations. BridgeWater requires 'strategy' to play skillfully and rewards classic shotmaking with an extra risk/reward approach. In Lakeland, an easy 25-minute shot from the Kissimmee area and less than an hour from Tampa, just off I-4.

Designed by the Clifton, Ezell & Clifton Golf Group in 1991, this interesting layout offers a formidable challenge for the accomplished player as well as an enjoyable round for the recreational golfer. Water comes into play on 14 holes on this picturesque course, framed by magnificent oaks and pines. The course's rather small, raised greens offer fair but demanding targets. Located in scenic, rural Mt. Dora, approximately 35-40 minutes northwest of downtown Orlando.

Located on Orlando's north side in DeBary, this challenging course was designed by the golf design team of Clifton, Ezell and Clifton and is part of a vibrant semi-private country club community. Most holes are set away from the community by a buffer zone of dense woods and vegetation. The setting is more reminiscent of the Carolinas than Central Florida and The National Audubon Society has certified the course as an official bird sanctuary habitat. Most interesting for this part of Florida is the fact that the layout features just one water hazard, which borders both the 9th and 18th greens; these finishing holes join together and create a beautiful backdrop for their spacious clubhouse. With great course conditions, undulating fairways, and greens that always roll true and fast, it's no wonder Debary is consistently chosen as a US Open Qualifying site.

Deer Island Club is the centerpiece of a remote 400-acre island that separates beautiful Lake Dora and Lake Beauclaire. The shoreline is rimmed with ancient oaks, pines, palms and cypress trees, along with panoramic views of quaint Mt. Dora in the background. Most likely you'll even catch a glimpse of lounging native alligators along the lake banks. Although water borders all 18 holes, the course is eminently fair and will not penalize a good shot. Architect Joe Lee called Deer Island the "most unique course I've ever designed." An excellent value, this course is well worth the drive to Mt. Dora, 40 minutes northwest of Orlando. Experience this "Island Retreat!"

One of Orlando's long time favorites, Deer Run has been satisfying golfers since Lloyd Clifton designed the course in 1979. There's quite a variety here of holes here with some open tee shots where you can let it rip to a number of tight fairways that will have you seeing more hazard than fairway. All in all it is a shot maker's course with medium-sized greens that will always hold well-hit irons.

Located 25 minutes southwest of the Disney area in Haines City, Diamondback is one of Joe Lee's most memorable Florida layouts. The course was carved from 240 acres of virgin forest and offers dramatically rolling fairways bordered by dense trees, natural wetlands, and well-positioned water hazards (water comes into play on 5 holes). This naturally scenic layout runs through a non-residential environment (no homes!) which is very unique to the Central Florida area, creating a very peaceful round of golf. Always in excellent shape, the course has formerly been rated 4 stars by Golf Digest's "Best Places to Play."

The Legends is an artfully-designed layout by Clifton, Ezell & Clifton, situated just 35 minutes west of Orlando in Clermont right on US Hwy. 27. Built in 1926, Mission Inn's El Campeon, "The Champion," is one of the south's oldest and most historical, prestigious golf courses. Architect Captain Charles Clarke of Troon, Scotland, blended unusual elevation changes of more than 85 feet with features of traditional golf design. Rolling fairways (some dramatic), undulating greens and well-placed berms, bunkers and sandy waste areas, as well as water on 11 holes, all only begin to characterize the aura of El Campeon. Mystic Dunes was designed by PGA Tour Professional and NBC golf analyst Gary Koch, opened in Fall 2001. As a par 71, 7012-yard course, Mystic Dunes' layout is truly unique to Orlando. The "low-country" front nine weaves its way through majestic oaks and pine trees, similar to those courses in the Carolinas, meandering through marsh and wetlands. From the links-style back nine with its rolling fairways, bump-and-run shots around the greens and quick putting surfaces, golfers feel reminiscent of the truly greatest courses of the British Isles. Crooked Cat is a phenomenal complement to its more highly acclaimed sister course, Panther Lake. Both courses played host to the 2003 and 2005 PGA TOUR Qualifying School Finals and have been awarded 4.5 stars by Golf Digest's "Places to Play" every year since 1999. That's no easy accomplishment as there are only 52 courses in Florida with an equal rating, and no course in the state earned five stars. With an entourage now of newly planted trees, wide terraced fairways, and native redtop heather grass in the rough, this 7493-yard course is meticulously groomed and features a distinct Scottish "links" flavor. Opened in 1998 as a tribute to golf legend Arnold Palmer and hotel business legend Kemmons Wilson, Orange Lake's Legends Course has quickly become one of Orlando's most popular courses. Laid out by Palmer Course Design, the course provides two distinct nine-hole layouts. The front side has been named The Links Nine for its open feel, which reminds one of playing the great links of Scotland and Ireland. The back nine, or The Pines, has tight, tree-lined fairways similar to the great American layouts in the Pinehurst area of North Carolina. Combining the two courses makes for an awesome 36-hole day. Both tracks were designed by the same course architects who used their experience and imagination to create two entirely different layouts. Easily accessible from all hotels in the Kissimmee/ Disney area and an easy 12 to 13 mile drive south of Orlando International Airport for your first/ last day of golf. Rated by Golf Digest as the Best New Course in 1994 and one of the Top 50 Courses in Florida by The Florida Golfer in 1999, this Ted McAnlis layout is a truly diverse test of golf. Shot positioning is crucial as water and/or wetlands can be found on 16 holes; however, the fairways had been widened in 2004 to create more fair and forgiving landing areas. The front nine is not encumbered by homes, but water features do abound. The back nine plays through a more residential area, offering more generous fairways. A beautiful southern-style clubhouse is an additional amenity. Located on Hwy. 27 in Davenport, just south of I-4 and 15 minutes west of the Disney area and US192.
