About Southern Dunes Golf & Country Club (Haines City, FL)
A truly unique layout, this award-winning course has been ranked among the "Top 100 Courses in America" by Golfweek and awarded 4 1/2 stars by Golf Digest. All newly renovated Champion Dwarf BermudaGrass greens were added in September 2010, along with Steve Smyers' design features of imaginative bunkering and large sandy scrub areas that line dramatically rolling fairways. Unusual for Central Florida, the course has elevation changes of up to 100 feet and a series of enormous dunes that give it even more character (water found on just 2 holes). This gem is consistently found in tournament-playing conditions year-round, always lush and green. Great customer service and attention to detail. Seriously, you won't want to miss playing Southern Dunes, located on Hwy. 27 just south of I-4, an easy 20 minutes from the US192/ Lake Buena Vista/ Kissimmee area.

To many sand traps for the average golfer (me). Should be limited to excellent golfers only. We have played it many times and it not for average. I will recondmend that we not play this course next year.

The course is one of the most plush well masintained courses we played and its to only one we played 2 times. That being said, the pace of play was horrible. Another 5 1/2 hour round was exhausting. We were told they started the day with a group of 12 and the 2nd & 3rd droups were holding things up. If thats the case, have them either pick up or get off. It backed up the whole day. When we complained to the staff during the round they could ony apoligize. When wwe complained to management they offered us a 2 for 1 at the bar. How insulting. Southern Dunes is off my list. Please feel free to share this with SD.

Gorgeous golf course. Beautiful conditions throughout. Sand everywhere, but playable. Greens were running 13 when we played in Feb. Wait staff in resaurant was overmatched and the pace of play on the course was BRUTALLY slow...wonderful golf course, however, that we all would like to play again, but would be concerned about the pace of play.

Southeren Dunes was in the best shape of all the courses we played this year. 2 years ago it was so bad, we did not play it last year. Enjoyed the course and played 27 holes. Will go back in 2013.
